FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT QUALIICATIONS DO STAFF HAVE?

Nursery Managers/Deputy Manager-SVQ IV Children's Care, Learning and Development (or equivalent) and working towards a Degree Course approved by SSSC.

Senior Nursery Nurses- SVQ III Children's Care, Learning and Development (or equivalent) plus 2 years experience as a Nursery Nurse

Nursery Nurse- SVQ III Children's Care, Learning and Development (or equivalent)

Nursery Assistant- SVQ II Children's Care, Learning and Development (or equivalent), or working towards this qualification.

These are the minimum requirements for the staff of Lauriston Nursery and each staff member will be encouraged to move forward to the next level of qualification. Added to this all staff will be require to attend courses on Child Protection, Elementary Food Hygiene and First Aid on an annual basis along with courses on curriculum development.

WHAT IF I NEED AN EXTRA DAY OR SESSION?

Extra days and sessions may be available if numbers allow and will be charged accordingly. Please speak to the Nursery Manager who will try to accommodate you.

WHAT FOOD WILL MY CHILD BE GIVEN AT NURSERY?

All food provided by the nursery will be healthy, balanced and nurtitious and will be carefully planned by our cook in line with the Scottish Executives Nutritional Guidance for Early Years. Fresh fruit will be available at snacks and meals and children will be offered water or milk to drink.
